Menu Planning.........

So I'm determined to start menu planning to make life here at the farm a little easier. Roy and I are always at a loss when it comes to dinner time if I haven't thought it out before hand. All the freezer meals I made when I was nesting have been long gone and man I miss them. So, here's my plan for the next week. If you have any recipe questions, ask away and I'll try to let you know. I'm off the the grocery store.........

  • Tuesday, March 16 - Chicken Pot Pie (this is the best recipe ever, so yummy)
  • Wednesday, March 17 -Crockpot Philly cheese steak sammies, sweet potato fries and a veggie of farmer Roy's choice
  • Thursday, March 18 - Quiche and Salad
  • Friday, March 19 - Shrimp and Grits
  • Saturday, March 20 - Manicotti, Salad, & Garlic Bread
  • Sunday, March 21 - Leftovers!!!!
  • Monday, March 22 - Red Beans & Rice

So, I have this obsession.........

I have always been a crafty person. I think it comes from my mama. You should see her sewing studio and you would understand exactly where it comes from. I don't just love to craft, but also collecting crafting supplies (again this MUST come from my mama.) I've tried to make a conscious decision in the last few years to finish what I start and use up some of these supplies I've been "collecting." I absolutely LOVE making things for little girls. I'm pretty sure that is why Roy and I were given Madelyn first. I have been stumbling across several amazing sites with patterns and ideas for little ones. I thought I'd share them here for my own reference and for anyone else out there that has my addiction........enjoy!!!

First, this apron dress is going to definitely be part of Maddie's wardrobe this summer. It's so stinkin' cute. Thanks to Bridget at Everyday Chaos for sharing her adorable idea with everyone! I can't wait to tackle this.

Most people out here that have known me for awhile know I've been making these pillowcase dresses for a few years now. Maddie wore her first one this past Christmas, but I want to share the pattern with everyone because it is so easy and so much fun to make. You can come up with so many easy variations of this dress and they are always adorable. You can find several tutorials out there, but this one at A Room Somewhere is really easy to follow.

Love this idea for one with the side tie with matching fabric and not ribbon.

I just found this awesome idea for recycling a men's shirt this morning into a little girls dress. I love the idea of taking something old and making it new and useful again. I think I'll have to hit up Goodwill and some consignment shops to find so cute, funky shirts to try this with.

Okay, I'm gonna share one more before I have to get off here. I love this twirly skirt. I can just see Maddie in a cute onsie with this skirt on and a matching bow in her hair (what little of it she has). Isn't it adorable??

If anyone finds any cute ideas, share them with me!! I love finding new ideas and revamping old ones. Well, the little one is up from her nap........feeding time!!!

Adventures in real estate.

So some might think Roy and I are insane, but we officially put the house on the market 2 weeks ago. I know the little one is only 12 weeks old, but we're ready. We found an amazing house out in Wagener that we are wanting. Well, the house isn't so much amazing as is the amount of land that comes with it, but the house has soooooooooo much potential. Seeing as how Roy and I both enjoy fixing up the house and remodeling, it should be fun. The best part for me is the pasture that is just waiting for some cows to populate it.

We've had several looky-loos so far here at the farm, but no offers yet. We are keeping our fingers crossed. I've really liked this house, but we just wish we had more room outside. I'll tell you though, keeping the house clean all the time is "fun." (insert sarcasm there) I feel like the chores are never ending some days, but hopefully it will be worth it.

So if anyone is looking for a mini-farm in the semi-country come check this place out. I'll miss it, but we are so excited about the future!! Everyone wish us luck and hopefully if we are successful in selling our own house, the house we want will still be available. If not.....mama here we come!!

The Farm.............

The new princess......

I know I've been neglecting my blog, but I promise I have a good excuse. Miss Madelyn Ruth arrived Dec. 15 weighing in at 9lb 3oz and 20.5 inches. Yes, she was a big girl. Life with her has been amazing. Of course there have been times that we have both been crying, but it's been so worth every second. I can hardly believe she turned 12 weeks old yesterday. It feels like we were just bringing her home. Roy and I are so in love with her!!!

So while I was on maternity leave, I taught myself how to crochet. I'll have to share Maddie's hat parade later, but I just finished my first little animal for her. I think we are gonna name her Ellie. I have so much fun creating things for her. I think Roy thinks I'm a little nuts with my crafts but he humors me in acting interested.

Meet Ellie.........

Of course we have to also share her side profile........

I think Maddie already loves Ellie. I don't think she has a clue what it is, but it has eyes that catch her attention and a trunk to naw on.

Hello friend............

Mmmmmm! You look tasty......

I'm gonna eat you.....Nom, Nom, Nom!!!!

Well I think the little one is finally down for awhile. This mama's got to go jump in the shower while she can.
